It may almost be November….

But I’m already looking towards May! Arguably the most beautiful of the Grand Tours this year’s Giro promises to be a classic! With a new race director and riders praising the efforts of organizers to limit transfers the 2012 Giro will keep everyone happy.

Vedilo in maggio!

2011 Giro d’Italia

In case you weren’t aware the 2011 Giro started up this past Saturday. This year’s race marks the 150th year anniversary of Italy’s unification.

Be sure to keep up with all the action over @ Cycling News.

Sadly, tragedy struck the Giro today on stage 3. On the descent of the Passo del Bocco Team Leopard Trek rider Wouter Weylandt crashed and was later declared dead. You can find more info here.

All I can say is that this young man died doing something he loves. There’s honor in that. Rest In Peace Wouter. You won’t soon be forgotten.
